I tried the Auchentoshan triple distilled Scotch whisky 15, 16, 17 and 18 year old malts.
Very little in it from year to year to be honest but it’s always good to try new stuff.
Back at work tonight, but have next weekend off, it’ll be payday and I’m out for dinner with a few current and ex-colleagues so I’m really looking forward to that. Just need to get through this week.
Have you tried anything new?

Just tried the Innis & Gunn Vintage. Bought in October and the head was perfect. Alot of alcohol even at 7.7%, but glad I bought 2 so I can put one away.
Don’t believe the (negative) hype.

My neighbour saw an Innis & Gunn Irish Whiskey Cask and bought me one to try.
It was okay and the first Innis & Gunn product I’ve ever tasted.
It was drinkable but I wouldn’t buy one, I’m happy to have it donated.
We sell Innis & Gunn at work so I may need to give it a go.
I think I need to get out into more beers. I’ve had quite a bit from what the U.K. has to offer.
What do you recommend in the U.S. to try? Something IPA, porter, stout, medium to dark ale or something so good I need to try it. I’m not really into amber ales or gassy lagers.

Over the holidays I tried the I&G Fired Oak Scotch Ale. First one was meh, the second one was like good scotch and beer in one!
NA Beer? Can’t go wrong with Ballast Point. The last couple of summers I stocked the fridge with their
Sculpin Grapefruit IPA
. In June I grabbed a single of their
Victory At Sea Porter
and when I opened it last week I was sat on my ass. Same goes for their
Mocha Marlin
. To speak generally of the brewery and their beers...whoa shit. Import. Import. Import.

Just had a look and most of what’s available from the U.S. is Evil Twin, Blue Point, etc... (hipster looking stuff), ignoring the pish that is Budweiser, Coors, etc... I can’t find anything from Ballast Point.
We have Blue Moon- Belgian White, Brooklyn- lager and Anchor Steam- Amber Beer.
This is where I typically order from.

2 years ago I tried Evil Twin Low Life Pilsner for the first time. Still in my top 10 pilsners.
This year tried their Sauerkirsche Stout and Gno More Gnomes . A little too much cherry in the stout (for my taste). Gno More Gnomes was as good as the pilsner. That pilsner....
Have seen Blue Moon here, but have yet to pick it up.
Haven’t tried any Auchentoshan. Actually, very little experience with Lowland whiskies at all. If it’s what you dig, post it.
Funny you should mention age/scotch, tonight I tried Talisker 10 beside the 18 and noticed quite a bit of difference. 18: Same pepper, less peat, less salt, different smoke, more oak, more seaweed, much more fruit, softer all around, and a defining fishy flavor almost stronger than any other flavor. A good hoot.

The Blended Teeling is meh, the single malt is nice but the single grain is great.
